Agreed on the Aston. I understand that the reverse-winding tachometer makes for nice symmetry with the speedometer, but we're so tuned to understand "clockwise" means "more." It wouldn't be that hard to get used to, I suppose, but it seems like form over function.

The S2000 isn't too bad in my opinion, but I prefer classic analogue gauges that read in actual units.

My favorite I've owned in terms of style was on my 1955 Chevy. It had a real "depth" to it and an awesome mechanical feeling. It had a hot rodded 350 in it, and the old speedometer actually couldn't keep up with the acceleration.

 

The Riviera deserved more votes too!

 

Best? By what criterion?

To me, it needs to be informative -- and I have to not mind looking at it.

Still a fan of a wooden "plank" with chrome-rimmed gauges splashed across it, if done right.

S2000 perfectly packs info into a tight space but has all the visual appeal of my coffeemaker's control panel.

 

That's tough competition.

All these are super cool in their own way.
