'Best Motoring' video
I recently viewed the Best Motoring VTEC Club from Netflix. Since I subscribe to Netflix, I decided to add this video to my list. Here is my personal critique of the video. Do I recommend it? Yes.
Why? Because it is entertaining. While it has almost no S2000 coverage, it has some fascinating coverage of the NSX, plus, it is funny. The video is shot in Japan and is in Japanese with English sub-titles with English technicals at the top. (Hint; have your DVD remote at the ready for pause and back-up). It was impossible to watch the action, while reading the fast-paced English sub-titles at the bottom while keeping track of the English-spec sheet scrolling across the the top of the screen. I became adept at pause-backup-play-pause-backup-pause-backup-play...etc. You get the idea. I thoroughly enjoyed this video. The NSX coverage was excellent in that the NSX-R-GT was covered. Suspension was also covered in detail and the authors went into detail about how they went about their NSX -GT suspension philosophy. Only ONE chapter was devoted to the S2000 and that was merely a showcase of aftermarket cat-back exhaust systems. There was NO mention of the S2000 in the video, yet, this one chapter devoted to the S2000 cat-back was bizarre. This chapter denoted each exhaust system(no mention of the S2000) and went through a series of photo/audio shots of each exhaust system that was VERY entertaining. While this series didn't include EVERY exhaust available for the "S", it DID include many of the more attractive systems. Each exhaust system was 'mic'd' at about 3 feet from the left(driver's side) exhaust tip and the engine was revved to about 6000 RPM aggressivly. Then, each system was fitted upon an 'S' and then driven around and "S" bend rural road couse with the microphone stationed at the apex of the first bend such that the listener/watcher gets to listen and watch car accelerate from the initial part of the "ess" curve. You hear the car accelerate briskly away from you and get an idea of each of the exhaust systems.

The recent Hot Version (used to be at the end of Best MOTORing, now on its own) had an S2000 super test with a bunch of different S2Ks duking it out. Like was previously mentioned, they actually do test a ton of S2000s. Gan-san always seem to beat some pretty potent cars (all stock) with a stock S2K.
