Default Best place to shop for a S2K?

A couple people have asked me and I don't know whether the major car web sites, BaT or CL are the best choices.

BaT seems to have the best vehicles, but the nature of the site means you're usually competing with dealers.

My answers to date have been "wherever you can find one," but I'm not sure whether there was a consensus here.

Facebook marketplace has a few S2000 you might want to check there as well.

Totally no conflict of interest here. In fact, Autotempest is biased against s2000's. It does not like to show s2000 results.

*Kidding* - ^ is the owner of autotempest if it's not clear.

I think the best thing is to track all the various sources so you don't miss anything that meets your criteria.

I had kept an eye on eBay and noticed the car I actually wanted the most (was not ready to pull the trigger at that time) was repeatedly cycled for auction. It never reached the “reserve”. I saw that it was owned by a dealer in Phoenix. About 6 months later when I was ready to pull the trigger, I contacted the dealer directly and negotiated from there. The reserve the dealer wanted was not realistic. They came down about 5 large and it was now ballpark. I got the car.

I bought my first on eBay sight unseen 9-10 years ago. Then I bought my last one from a friend on the local race forum.

What type of s2k are you looking for? Mint/stock? Daily driven but we'll maintained? Or someone else's project car?

I bought my first from private seller on auto trader or one of those internet sites. I bought my current s2k (second) from a private seller off craigs list in a nearby state. Both transactions when well. I am not a fan of buying cars from dealers. Sometimes you have to. But, to me, it is a last resort.
