I was quoted for $35 on labor fee for rear diff fluid change. I know I know, one should do it on their own. But I just don't have time to work on my car.

Anyways, I am leaning towards Mobil 1 75W-90 synthetic gear oil.

I have had absolutely no problems with the Mobil 1 gear oil. The last interval was 15k and there was no filings outside of the normal sludge on the drain plug magnet.

On the other hand, I have put the LE-607 in a couple of my customers cars now, and they have had no issues either.

However, for only $7.99 for the Mobil 1 and the rep that it has, I don't think you can go wrong. I'm sticking with that for my car........thanx.

If they are a decent shop, they should know how to fill a diff. If they don't, then RUN!
(You fill it till it falls out the fill hole when the car is level.)

damn, do it yourself for 30 bucks man... only special tool u need is a 24mm socket wrench (not many kits have this size included), and a 23mm open ended wrench. Check the DIY in UTH forum.

this begs the question, what diff fluid gets filled from the factory? And why doesn't Honda sell that diff fluid?

$30-$40 for a diff fluid change? That's rediculous. Take it to an oil change place and watch them do it for $10, or you can do it yourself for $0. It'll take less time and you can actually watch them do it. It may have the "Honda" name on it at the dealership, but in all truth, there isn't the same level of accountability as there is at the local oil change place.
