I want to be prepared when my car arrives in January, so what is the best way to protect the front end from rock damage? I've read mixed feelings on the Colgan bra. Also, my car will have the front spoiler and they are not making a bra to fit yet (I think).

Any other preventative measures? Isn't there some sort of clear plastic that can be put on? Is this any good?

This will be my x-mas request, so any info will help

The best way to protect the front-end is to not drive the car...or you may want to remove the front-end. Or maybe throw on a hood condom whenever you drive. Or maybe drive backwards...

I am seriously struggling with the same thing! I don't want to bra the car so I may have stoneguard installed. I don't even know if that will keep the soft plastic from getting indentations though. What's a man to do?

Save your money as bras detract from the beauty of this machine and dont fit right and plastic would not be my choice. I have had my stook for over a year and dont have any chips in the front although I have a window chip but not much you can do there. I stay away from big trucks especially ones not covered. I did hit the bottom of my stock bumper on those concrete parking bumpers and just installed a Honda chin spoiler to hide all the boogers now that I'm a little more cautious in parking lots. Figure I can put on a new one in a few years to cover new boogers. I think this is just an expected condition and a few chips look better than bras and plastic. Just my $.02 [QUOTE]Originally posted by S2K-F8:

I use the bra only for trips. It IS ugly, looks like some kind of S&M device, but it is effective for keeping the rocks of Florida's unkempt, constantly under construction roadways off of my car.

Word of advice though: if you spin your car off-road into sand, TAKE IT OFF immediately...

I have the Colgan bra and recently they replaced it because of the balooning problem. It's been working fine since then. I agree that it's ugly, but I leave it on for commuting and longer trips. It really works well to protect the front. I used one on my RX7 for years and the front was like brand new when I sold it. I personally don't like the idea of sticking the clear plastic on the paint.

I have seen many more cars damaged by bra use than cars protected by them...

IF they are a perfect fit and IF you never leave them on when wet and IF you always put them on a completely clean car and IF the felt inside of the bra never touches dirt they MIGHT protect from some rock chips.

I used a bra on my previous car for 4 years with no ill effects, but I am careful. So far I've met all of your conditional statements for bra use on the S2k as well. It has protected the car from bugs, gravel and stones on several road trips and commutes.

One other way to look at it is to psychologically prepare yourself to repaint the front cap avery few years or so ... that would be a perfect opportunity to add flames .
