Default best year

i was wondering what the best year of the s2000... is the best. i like the 1999 or 2000 one. but the 04s are growing on me. any general diffrences between the years, besides minor upgrades and whatnot? im 18 right now and plan on getting one as soon as i am out of boot camp.

I'm right with ya on that one. For ME, the 03 is the best year. It still came with the F20C, and had more of an edge to it. The car had been out for a few years, and has seen refinements since its introduction.

The best year will be the one your driving. Good luck finding the one you want.

When I was looking at buying an '01 and mentioned it on the forums the advice I got was to get an '02 or later model. Even some '01 owners said this. So I did.

All car manufacturers tweak their 1st year models based on reported problems and customer feedback. Often this process continues into the 2nd. That's basically why you'd probably be best off getting an '02 or later model. You get a short list of fixes and refinements.

However, the '00 and '01 models are perfectly fine if you choose one based upon price and availability.

Unhappy

00 to 01 still working out the bugs but some people's S are still working fine till this day

Late 02 to 03 for the sporty raw feel 9000 redline

04 and up for a more relaxed version 8000 redline

All S2000 are great cars, it just depends on what your looking for

Me, I like the 02 - 03

I've had an '00 and now have a '04. The differences are fairly significant to me, though the car still has the same overall personality. The biggest pointers to me would be:

'00 - price, 2.0L
'01 - price and whatever they fixed from '00
'02 - glass window, further refinement
'03 - Cumulative refinements, probably higher resale for those who like the 2.0 since it was the last year for it.
'04 - 2.2L, I like it, others don't. Wheels, front/rear fascia, head/taillights, interior, extra chassis stiffening, etc.
'05 - ditto '04, a bit higher price.

Just my $.02. Good luck in your search, and welcome to the group. The sense of community among S2K owners is strong, moreso than other groups I've been a part of.
