Best year of s2000?
2000 model... JDM one for more bhp
lol. What was the final highest HP from the 06+ models? (out of curiosity as I don't know). Only thing I would say is the plastic window sucks... so most likely an 03 JDM s2k...

LOL, so many BS answers in this thread.
The best year S2000? The newest one.

)No one claims the F20c makes more power. I get more a visceral reaction to the 9k (having owned both).
I complain about VSA because I've forgotten to turn it off and ruined an autox run by trying to turn it off during the run (I figured out I forgot to turn it off early enough in the run that I determined the time I'd loose trying to turn it off while driving would be less than the amount of time and fun I'd loose if I left it on). It does and has gotten in the, if only for user error (default should be off
).Oh, and I'm surprised no one has mentioned clutch delay valve FTL.
I gotta go against all the proponents of the AP2/F20C. I'd MUCH rather have an AP1 with an F22C engine (keeping the AP1's 9000rpm ECU of course!). AP1 flywheel/transmission for me (closer ratios, I couldn't give a rat's arse about 1st being a bit tall).
If I'm not mistaken, the earlier cars are ~100 lb. lighter than later ones.
My '01 weighs 2700 lb. on the New Hampshire Motor Speedway scales, with a ~40 lb. Hard Dog roll bar, without the spare, with tools, ~1/8 tank. Unless I'm mistaken, that's about what a CR weighs without a top, A/C, or radio.

I used to own an ap1, and i dont care if it revs to 10k, not a fan of the power band at all, it feels like it didnt move and all u heard was noise. My ap2 feels like a totally different car, moves at 3k and keeps pulling until u shift. Alot of guys on here talk bad about an ap2! U got to own one first before u talk bad about it. And IMO i would never own an ap1.
Stock ... Brand New CR
Modified ... Depends on mods and quality of work
Having driven all variations of S2000s (except 08-09 base), I like the freshness of a new S2000. I dislike a stock AP1 (no hate, just preference). They feel weak and too soft up front. With a different suspension setup, they really come to life. 8200 vs 8900 ... feels the same to me.
If I had the money, I would buy a clean AP1 to mod and keep my CR stock.
EDIT: As for the CDV ... I learned to drive around it. Switching fluid/keeping the fluid fresh really helps. Knowing how to launch it makes you forget it's there.

I agree that there a lot of BS answers in this thread. Your answer being one of them.
There is no 'best' year S2000. But there are a ton of people saying a certian year, and ironicly, it's the same year they own. You can't ask a question like that and not expect to get an unbiased answer.
Lets just put it this way....Any S is good whether it's an AP1 or AP2 as long as it's an S2000. Sorry i'm not trying to hate on anyone but i would stay away from 00-01 cause those are the first years it came out and probably needed some fine tweeking here and there.
