A better deal buying two cars????
At the end of this year or early next year my soon to be wife and I will be buying new cars. I of coarse will be getting an s2000 and she will be getting an accord, civic, or crv. We will be buying them at the same time hoping for a GREAT deal. Has anyone done this? How much better of a deal should we expect when buying two cars at once? I don't know if it matters but we have gotten our last two cars at this same dealership(maybe a loyalty discount HAHA). Any suggestions or comments would be welcome.
My wife I tried this in 1989 at a Honda dealer in College Park, MD. They refused to deal with the cars as a package and insisted on negotiating for each one separately. Afterwards we felt like we had been ripped off. If not for the fact that both cars lasted 13 years, I would never have set foot in a Honda dealership again.
Perhaps the best advice is to be prepared to walk out. The salesfolks know that if you leave you'll probably end up at a competitor's place.

I'd say yes. You should be able to get a no (or little) haggle price of a couple a hundred over invoice on each of them. Espcially if you finanace through the dealer. They can make up any lost margins on the front end of the deal by financing through their banks.
Just go prepared. Run a print off from edmunds.com showing what true invoice is and tell them how much over that (if any) your willing to spend. If it were me, I'd offer $200 over invoice on each of them and see what they say. If they balk at all I'd take the offer to the next dealer. Chances are they won't let you walk out the door without making every effort to get close to your desired price.
I see your in Dallas. Now, of course, I'm a little biased toward Rusty Wallis Honda because I worked there for a while and I bought my S there. But I wouldn't hesitate to send my family and friends there. Straight up deals with no BS games.
When you're ready to buy, if you want to save yourself a little running around, call them up and ask for Justin or Bill in the offifce. They are the sales managers and have the deal making ability. Call on a Tuesday morning about 10:30. The weekend rush is over, Monday has been slow and they are usually more apt to make deals. Tell them what you're wanting to pay and see what they can do. They will usually cut as low as they possibily can if they know you're ready to buy immediately.
Good luck to you.

P.S....
Buy the last business week of the year if you can. It's the busiest week of the year by far in the new car business. There is so much traffic through dealerships during this week that they don't have time to haggle. If it's within their means to meet your price they'll do it quick just to get the sale(s) and get on to the next customer. I saw people getting no haggle, invoice prices this past year. On an Accord, Civic or CRV it's almost a guarranty. But you may pay a little over invoice on the S depending on supply and demand.

Thanks guys. I will probably first go to Bankston in lewesville(spelling?) because that is the dealership We have bought our previous two cars. I will also check out Rusty wallace. Thank you for the end of the year suggestion. The end of each month is good too.?.?. Do you know of any mod friendly dealers around here lemonhead?
End of the month is a crap shoot. If they've had an off month then yes. But if they've had a good month they may not be as motivated as you might like.
And as far as I know dealers are to mods as oil is to water. If I ever do anything major to my car it'll be after the 3/36 warranty is up.
One word of warning. Stay away from Lute Riley Honda. They are the brown acid to Honda's Woodstock.

WOW!! You are 1,000,000th person to tell me this(slight exaggeration) about Lute Riley Honda. I will stay away from there. Odds are I won't do to much to it (maybe wheels and susp., exaust) but I was just curious. You have been alot of help
