Very well written Ranger. I'm 50 years old and about the same size as you and love how the car fits me like a glove. Mine is 27 months old and only has 7300+ miles on it. To address some of your concerns, I would think that 10W-40 oil should be fine for your neck of the woods. As far as the boot, the more you use it, the easier it gets. I always use mine and it takes about 15 seconds to remove and a little less than that to put on. Enjoy your car and congrats.

Very well put. At 56 I have to agree with the above. My S is my daily drive and that in and of itself makes the beginning and ending of the work day something to look forward to.

I agree with you guys. I'm 56 and use my S as a daily driver not only to and from work, but to and from appointments as well. It makes working much more fun. I have 3000 miles now on the car in just over a couple months. I'm 5'9" and weigh 225. Once in, I'm comfortable and ready to go.

In Texas, with this heat, I would defintely go with 10W-30.

10W-40 would be better for climates that actually reach close to freezing temps. Are you up near the Panhandle?

No sir ... about 40 miles north of Cowtown. Do I have my viscosities backwards? I thought "lower" for colder weather, i.e. 10W down to 5W, and "higher" for hotter conditions, say 30 upped to 40. Damn senility.

What's the escort you are referring to? I have no idea what you mean.

Today's cars have close tolerances and do very well on 30 weight oil.. using heavier oil will not gain you anything and may even cost you some power and increased wear.

I have pushed performance cars in the Texas heat for years with 5W30 without problem. Use the recommended 10W30.
