Default better mileage after mods

is it normal to get better gas mileage after installing FIPK/HKS/Megan TP/AUT Plate? i've noticed that from two consecutive tanks of gas i've been getting better mileage. 140miles from one bar more than half a tank. i used to get about 200-210 miles per tank while driving to my high school in the suburbs, and now i drive into DC (traffic, slow moving) everyday. i haven't been on a highway since i modded.

just to let you know, our fuel gauge is a habitual liar.

just when you think you're doing good, your fuel light comes on

...or you may have a slightly lighter foot because of the increase of audible response of your engine...

Did you have a dirty oem filter? Going from dirty OEM to clean Aftermarket will get you better gas mileage.

i actually get on the gas more now, and i know the fuel gauge isn't lying this time. i've had the car long enough to know when it's tricking me and when it's telling the truth. and i didn't go from a dirty OEM to a new aftermarket. i actually changed my OEM 2 weeks before the FIPK with new K&N filter. maybe it's because when i'm NOT stepping on it, i drive more calmly than i would before...

mods can increase mileage .. after resetting ecu

if you can increase the efficiency of you engine.. than you can increase mileage

running the same gas brand helps too.

WTF is with you guys in DC??? Why all the freaking traffic when there's never any wreck or huge backup, theres just always little 1/4 mile segments where people stop for no apparent reason and then things keep moving again....grrr DC traffic grr...I'll kill them all...

Try going somewhere at like 9AM. I'm like "WTF! People should be working!". They love to do construction at the worst possible location, at the worst possible time.
