Big Question
Stop! You should not buy an S2K; not now, not ever!
Unless you want to have a
on your face every time you accelerate out of corners or execute perfect high-RPM shifts through the gears...
If that's OK with you, then go ahead and find someone's well loved S2K for a good price.
Good Luck.

Also, just in case the S2K you want to buy has been over-revved, you may want to pay the dealership (if that's who you purchase from) to check out valve retainers and possibly save you the pain & expense of a blown engine a few miles down the road. A little more info is available here:
Clickie ---> Valve Retainer Check (more info available in the Under the Hood forum)

in 2003 i bought a ap1 with 50Kmiles from a dealer for $14K. you can always find a lower price, take your time and look around. these cars dont sell as well in the winter.
i would not buy a car with no clock tho

The dealership is not going to check an S2000 for the things that would likely go wrong. I wouldn't pay them the premium price.
Find a member on s2ki.com selling their vehicle. Look through their historical posts to get an idea of what kind of treatment the vehicle had (hwy miles, etc).
I would take an S2000 checked out by an S2000 owner over a dealership any day of the week.
And it's worth a plane ticket to get the car you want. One unexpected trip to the dealership will cost you more than that.

Why do you think we have so many from there moving here? A 250K house here would cost a million or more in California.
