I went from AP1 --> AP2. If my AP1 wasn't rear ended, I would have just stuck with my AP1. They're very similar cars and although the AP2 was a small improvement, it didn't blow me away.

If price is a big issue and you're not going to keep it long, just get an AP1 and save up the rest of the money for other things.

Hi everyone! New member in the process of buying a S2000 here. I've been doing a lot of research on the topic and can't decide which path to take. Buy an AP1 and upgrade to AP2 later, or buy AP2 right off the bat.

I love both AP1 and AP2. On one hand, AP1 with about 50kmiles go for 15,000 or so. On the other hand, AP2 can go for about 20 to 22k.

With the value of S2000 depreciating so much, I was wondering if it's more economical to buy a cheaper AP1 and drive that for a while, and then buy an AP2 later when its value depreciates to about the same level as an AP1 today.

That way I don't have to pay as much, can have it paid off sooner, and enjoy the full spectrum of AP1 to AP2 when I upgrade. With the prices dropping the way they are, it just seems a bit wasteful to buy AP2 when the value of AP1s have leveled off relative to AP2s.

I know not many members here have gone back to AP1s after getting AP2. What do you guys think, which is more economical?
AP1s are cheaper, and they are 85% the same car as the AP2. Bang for your buck is an older S2000 of course.

Closing before this gets ugly.
