Default Bike Rack For S2k

Hello,
I am brand new to this forum and if the information I'm seeking is already out there, please point me to it.

I am about to purchase a new weekend car for myself (I've got a trusty old 86 MR2) and have narrowed field down, with the s2k being my front runner. I've got a few questions I'm hoping someone can comment on..

Bike Rack: I'm looking to attach a bike rack to a trailer hitch receiver so I can safely carry 1-2 bikes without touching this beautiful roadster you all have. Anyone out there know of hitches that work best? Any pics of one installed on this site?

Comfort: Im 6' even.. and want to take the s2k on long drives. Have heard it's not a comfortable ride for a long 3+ hour drive. Also, at 6' will the tight legroom become a problem. Any tall readers, I'd love to hear your experiences. I"ve heard the newer models (04 on?) have a bit more elbor room.. should I concentrate on those model years?

thanks for any feedback you can give.

I'm 6' and 185 lbs and the car feels like it's tailored to fit me. I haven't gone on any long trips yet so i can't comment on that. You should head out to a dealership and see for yourself

I'm also looking to put a bike rack on the S. I think I have narrowed it down to the DaLan hitch, but I'm confused on what is the best rack. I have searched and there are tons of posts, regarding hitchs and racks. I have seen one picture with a comparison of a thule rack and a yakima rack. The thule stuck out further than the yakima.

I was wondering does anyone else have a hitch and what rack are you using? I'm also lowered about 1.5 inches, so I'm worried that if it sticks out to far I may scrape when I go up a driveway.

Thanks for all the help.
Dan

i've only carried my bike once. from dallas to austin...about 200 miles.

its a 7" travel full suspension bike and i had both wheels in the trunk and the fork and bar/stem assembly taken apart and folded to the side. wrapped up the derailleurs and disc calipers and slid the whole thing in the passenger seat!

no idea on the bike thing... i have the beater Camry now for that

But I am 6'3 and 205 and I fit nice and snug. I have driven to LA and back, about 1-2 hr drive, and I wouldnt want to drive too much farther than that. Definately requires some stretching afterwards... not much room to bend knees in this car or sit up right/slouch.

Car is made for short bursts of fast or fun driving. Not really for long drives at a time, at least not at our size. Smaller people are probably fine.

how often will you drive 3+ hours?

i just drove 3.5 hours from austin to dallas, and again back to austin, and it was just as comfortable as my accord. 5'10"

i need bike rack, too, but i think i will settle for carpooling or borrowing roomates car when carrying bikes
