its been said, but adding to the party anyway...

-when the car is dirty it will look DIRTY
-detailing the car (cleaner, polish, wax) requires A LOT of effort to remove those very noticeable swirls
-leather alone is not fun in the summer. black only makes it marginally worse.

-BUT when finally detailed, black looks AWESOME. I have never gotten random complements from people on the street like I have w/ this car!

ps. I have also had a couple of white cars and they are SO EASY to detail in comparison! its too bad i love black! =)

Every car I've ever owned has been black/black, and until I get my Ferrari, that's the way it's going to stay.

As for the heat issue, if you park it uncovered for extended periods of time, then yeah, it'll get hotter than an oven. But the nice thing about a convertible is that you can just drop the top and watch the heat rise from the interior like a nuclear mushroom cloud (if you look at the car's shadow on the ground, it really looks like that!).

Does Berlina attract more heat?

Yep. Hard to keep clean? Yep. Most beautiful when it is clean? Abso-f*ckin-lutely.

It's all about Suzuka!

Just get what you want and you'll be fine. Who cares if you're hot? You hear that song "It's getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes?"

That black/black certainly attracted heat!

No offense, wanabe, but folks that have lived most of their lives on the California coast simply don't have a clue about the real world when it comes to temperatures.

Take a trip in August to anywhere between San Antonio, TX. and Phoenix, AZ. and park it, top down, for 15 minutes and you'll understand what I'm saying.

Drive Safe,

I live in Austin, TX where it's above 100 for several months of the year. Yes it gets very hot, but yes it is also manageable with 2 items. The sunshade for short stops in the sun like lunch. A car cover on those days where you feel the need to drive to work and can't obtain parking in the shade. Since you're in Washington, you can probably get by with just the Sun Shade. It really does have to be about 100 for the sun shade to be insufficient. My personal issues aren't with the shifter, but with the steering wheel and center console. Makes you be religious about the sunshade and/or car cover very quickly...

I had a 2002 black/red. It was very difficult to keep clean. I was washing three times a week (fortunately it was summer). Now I have a 2002 silver/red. It is very easy to keep it clean. Honestly, black was more like a devil, a beast.. silver is more like elegant and mature.

Don't forget to have your car covered with auto armor or any other type of commercial paint seal against acid rain and UV.. it comes with a warranty for 5 years. I hope it helps.

I have a black/black in Louisville, Ky and can't park it under cover. Yes, it gets hot, yes I have a sunscreen that helps. However, one thing no one has mentioned is how well the A/C works on high recycle. On a hot summer day you can hang meat in the car in a very few minutes. I also have been know to leave the top up but not latched. That also helps.
