Default Black Paint Job

I was washing my black 2000 S2000 next to a black 2000 Lincoln LS and noticed the difference in paint jobs. The LS's black had much more luster than mine. I asked the owner if they ever had their car waxed in the past two years and they stated no. I have had mine waxed and I also use car wash liquid. The LS owner was using dish washing liquid. Is it me, or did Honda skimp on the paint job? I also heard that red S2000's don't even have clear coat. Is that true?

I believe all S2000 colors are clear coated.
I guess not all black paints are created equal.
AND DISH SOAP! He must have a magic touch because that's the one thing that car care "experts" tell you NOT to use. It strips off all wax and most polishes.

It might be the metalic content in the paint.

The black on the S2000 is not a "true" black. there is a brownish tint in it.

A truly "black" car will have a deeper look to the finish.

You are right, my black does not have that "deep" black look like some other cars. I do my best to keep shiny, but I feel as if my paint job just isn't the best. I have only owned one other car in my life and that was a 1994 black Honda civic, so I really don't have anything to compare it to. But When I look at black BMW's, Mercedes, Porsches, and especially Lexus, it just seems to me that their paint jobs are kick ass and mine is about as good as a Ford Mustang's.

The color that I must admit looks really good is the Yellow, but then again, they are all basically new.

The Black in the 94 Civic has rust colored metalflake mixed in. It isn't a pure Black either.

Why the new ID?

I wasn't able to sign in to nastinupe a few days eariler, so I created a new name.

I believe that it's a conspiracy against me. You know that I love to complain on these threads about our beloved S2000 and they love to flame me for it. But I don't care, I speak my mind and move on.
