One thing i noticed when test driving the s2000 is that with the top up its really hard to see traffic to the side and behind you. has anyone else noticed this? i tend to actually look before changing lanes or whatever and the rear veiw mirrors on the car don't seem to cover much area. Anyone with a hard top notice better visibility?
I plan on getting a hardtop eventually for the glass rear window and hopefully that will have better visability.

Yes, my advice is in line with ricosuave's...only drive the car with the top down.
There have been people who have used those weird little mirrors that attach to the windshield and have more panoramic view of the rear...though I can't remember the name of those things.

Someone in a much earlier thread also posted the correct way to have your mirrors setup.
Here it is in a nutshell.
Basically your side mirrors should be adjusted outward so that no part of your car is visible in them. When a following vehicle moves out of the sight of your rearview mirror they should immediately appear in the side mirror.
Someone else may care to elaborate further.

Yeah... every time I change lanes to the left, I make my best effort to find out if anyone is there, and then just pray that if someone *IS* there, they will move before I hit them.
I also tend to enter the freeway at about 100mph to avoid this problem. That way I only have to keep an eye on whether I just passed someone. Once on the freeway, I usually slow down a touch.

Another solution is to use aspheric mirrors.
These are like regular mirrors on the inboard portion, but then transition into a convex design in the outboard area. This gives a much wider angle of view, but with the distortion associated with non-planar mirror designs. I don't think they are available for the S2K, but here's a link for aspheric mirrors designed for a Boxster: http://www.toolworks.com/bilofsky/boxster/mirrors.html
