Default Boot cover alternative - Installed w/ pics

Hi All:

I received the soft boot cover from Auco and finally installed it on my car for a close look. As long as I don't drive with it they will let me return it if I don't like it.

Here are a couple of pictures I made:

- From this side it looks pretty good -

- The quality of the product looks good as well -

- Is this an improvement to 'no boot cover at all' though? -

- Speaks for itself -

Let me know what the verdict is!! I appreciate everyone's opinion!

Regards,

Siepel

I've looked at that product a number of times but I still can't justify the cost, I'd like one but for 25% what they charge at the minute.

How does the back hold in place? Weights?

I think this would be another product Rick could offer. Something a lot less expensive. If he could get one for under $100 that was similar (not necessarily the same material) I would buy one from him.

Siepel,

If you have a chance, please take a photo of the cover off of the car and also one with you trying to position one of those black plastic pieces.

I would like to get a perspective.

Thanks for posting, this is something I would like, but not for $300

Hi Walkabt,

When I was making the pictures you requested, I noticed to my horror that I have installed the cover incorrectly.

When I turned it upside down on my floor, I discovered that there is an extra 'envelope' which would precisely fit the top/front part of the roof structure when it is folded down.

That said, I have prepared some pictures with explanation of what I mean.

- made this one earlier today -

- Bottom side of the soft boot cover -

Also, when I just read the instruction manual (I am a male, we never read them, and if only after the fact ) it seems to point out that there is some kind of attachment prior to mounting the buttons (nothing more, nothing less stated) and I am pretty sure that this envelope needs to be slid over the top/front of the roof. It does make sense now.

This probably means that 1) the top will stay perfectly in place 2) might look a tad tighter.

If this is the case, I think I might just hang on to it for a few more days and make some pictures when it stops F-ing raining over here.

Hi Vjarnot,

I didn't quite catch your question there, sorry for my late reply.

The advantage to this cover is that it is very foldable and stores much more easily, contrary to the stock cover, which is hard and pretty much takes up all the usable room in the trunk when cruising around with the top closed.

- Soft boot cover in it's package -

As you can see, the package is relatively small and slim (I put my phone and a standard size calculator on it for size reference) and it is very flexible as well.

Exactly, I know myself and other UK guys have looked into this for touring use, when not in use (rain!) the OEM boot cover takes up a lot of valuable trunk space when touring
