Default Boot cover alternative + trunk lid luggage rack

Hi All:

Well, I have finally done it!

I am going on a road trip from Holland to Spain with a friend and kinda need all the luggage room I can get.

Because of the potential luggage room issue (taking a tent and sleeping bags etc. etc.) I have ordered the trunk lid mounted luggage rack.

Also, I have been playing with the thought to get the soft boot cover, as an alternative for the stock version, which is quite room consuming. For long trips, I do prefer to cover the open roof structure, because it seems to get dusty real soon. The only problem is that it has kindly been referred to as the 'paper bag' cover in some older thread, because the fitting does not seem to be so 'sharp'. However, I am hoping that in the right color (black) it will look more than acceptable. If I don't like it, I can send it back for a full refund. This is good, because the paper bag costs a stiff 300 bucks but I want to try it. Period.

Can it be of any interest to you guys and girls how these products hold up in the real world on a real S2000? I'll keep you posted if you are interested!

Best regards,

Peter

I think it would be very interesting to find out how well these two products meet your needs!

I don't think I will be in the market for the luggage rack, but an alternative to the boot cover would be awesome.

Good luck.

Wow that boot cover is hideous!

The trunk rack, however, is pretty interesting. Where did you find it. Does it look like it could scratch your paint?

It looks like your roll bars are silver? Did you do that, or is it just the picture...

That boot cover looks like it will fly off at the first sign of 40mph!

That luggage carrier resembles a Safari basket from a Land Rover!

I can't believe you are going to do that to your baby....it is not an SUV or a minivan....and the miles ...my baby would not let me put that luggage rack near her

I will pray for her...

I'm curious on the silver roll loops and seat backs too? Is that stock in Europe or aftermarket?

i thought the s2000 had a weight limit of 400lbs. With that extra luggage and probably 2 people it would definetely be over 400lbs, right? So please explain - I'm confused.

Actually, the GVW (which i learned recently) is themax capacity and is around 3300 lbs.....thats like 600 lbs more than the car itself. with two 200 lb men, you should have 200 lbs left for luggage.

but still, luggage on the trunk of an S2K....???

I passed one of these the other day and thought, "WOW!...what a cool way to travel with the S2K!" Add a lightweight hitch package on the car, color match the trailer, trick up the wheels/tires on the trailer & it'd be a great travel side-kick!
