Default Boot Cover Straps Buzzing

I don't normally use my boot cover, so I didn't realize that when driving at highway speeds, both of my elastic straps on my boot cover vibrate from the wind, creating a very annoying buzzing sound. I've had to put a 360 degree twist in the straps to prevent this buzzing sound. I can't believe that I'm the only one with this problem. Do you have this problem, and what have you done about it?

I've encountered this on occasion. It seems to happen at higher speeds as you have said. As far as what I have done, not much- I just leave the boot in the garage.

No, you are not the only one with this problem. Do a search on this forum and you'll see that others (including me) have posted about this many years ago. The simple solution that we found was to just twist the ties and the buzz is gone. New owners will continue to discover this simple fix.

Wish I thought of that solution. I guess it's hard to hear over the engine, wind, and radio.

It's been a common problem reported on this site since day 1.

The boot cover is a total waste. I use to put it on if I was going take a picture but I don't even do that anymore; it's in the attic.

alright... i got your solution:
my boot is always on, so i had to solve this one-
certain wines (i think bonny doon is one of them) use black plastic corks. find two of those corks (oh, darn- you gotta drink the wine too!!) and just put them (one on each side) between the strap and the car-
buzzing gone, and they dont show!!

Since the boot keeps the top clean from road grime, I use it (since dust is a ragtops biggest enemy).

However, I unscrewed the strap's snaps and reinstalled them facing the other way so I twist 180

Randy;
That's a great idea. Thanks for the reply. I'm going to switch mine right away. And you're right - it makes it idiot proof.

WhiteS2K: Thanks for the post. I did a search before posting but I my search came up empty. I must have picked the wrong search words because I tried again and found your old thread.

Like others have said, I simply twist mine one turn, problem solved! I can put my cover on in under 90 seconds now....

The straps on mine buzz. I do the twist trick when I use the boot. Used to use it often but tired of fighting it to get it on the car. I fear sooner or later I'm going to mess something up on the frame or top itself for all the pulling and tugging required to match up the snaps on the boot with the pins on the car.
