I just put the top down for the first time and I was not
able to get the boot to fit properly. After snaping
the boot into place, I pushed the rear section under the
back of the car, but it does not stay. The rear of the
boot keeps popping out. Am I missing something? Is there
a trick to doing this?

Hmmm...did you slip those plastic tabs in place?

I had the same problem. The way I got around it was to store the boot flat (not in the trunc)). That fixed the problem.

I have the same problem and was going to bring it up in the spring when the car comes out more. Anyone else? Any suggestions?

Funny thing. I just put the boot on for the first time since I got the car in April. Rear end kept popping out. Dropped by Norm Reeves Honda in Huntington Beach to get some instruction on boot installation. Service manager took a look at it and announced, "you need a new boot." Fine, I said. Two days later, they called and told me to pick it up. It is a royal pain in the ass to install, but it sure looks better than having the folded top guts in plain view. New one works perfectly once you're done with the grunts and groans of snapping, pulling, tugging, and tucking. As a side benefit, I think it reduces the turbulence in the passenger cabin. Go figure.

Phil,

Did you get the redesigned boot for the seatbelt problem? I still have my original and I don't have the problem of not fitting at all. Takes me about 2 minutes to install it.

I have had the same problem with boot. Although at low speed (<60kph) everything's fine, at highway speed the aerodynamic vacuum unseats the rear of the boot and it starts flapping. I spoke to Honda Canada. The regional warranty rep took a look. No suggestions. In the spring I'll approach him again - perhaps a new boot.

I believe he problem is that of poor design. The boot cover from my Miata fits much more securely.

I have the same problem!
My original boot worked fine (and looked better). The new boot keeps lifting at speed. I talked to my service manager about it and he just stares at me blankly. I think I'll try and work up some kind of velcro fix or something.

I wonder if that cutout on the replacement boot also allows the air to enter under the boot at speed, also helping to lift it.

Hi REVS29K

My first boot was also a replacement boot. I think that it got twisted in my garage sitting for the past 8 months. I also think that if I had used it for a while, it would've relaxed into a more useable shape and stayed in place. I've had the new one up to 86 mph, and no lifting. It's stiff and therefore, a pain in the ass to snap in place. Now that I've been driving with the boot, I like it so much better, I'm going to keep using it.
