I was happy with the old single-electrode Bosch platinum plugs as replacements for standard plugs on previous cars, for their much greater life. The +4 idea seems redundant to me, something like the old SplitFire hokum. And the dropped insulator is very troubling.

The S2000 already has long-life platinum (or iridium) plugs that work well. I don't think plugs have an effect on performance (given the right heat range) - they're just two metal points for a spark to jump from. I'd stick with post-TSB stock plugs.

Not a good idea.

Bosch worked great in my Bug, but the Acura and Hondas didn't like them at all! Sputter, pop, choke....ugh. And YES, they were gapped correctly.

Stick with the NGKs or Iridium as others have suggested.

The S2000 has an individual coil for each cylinder that sits directly on top of the spark plug.

If I pull my plugs how do i determine if they need to be replaced? What should i look for? Discoloration and wear on the tip? From what?

Don't go messing with your spark plugs unless you are confident what you put in there will outperform the stock ones in performance, and durabilty. I too have seen destroyed engines from an insulator that dropped into the engine, because someone thought they were doing their engine some type of good by putting in some fancy plug. To boot, they must be torqued correctly. A plug that is not tightened correctly may come loose, and surely do megga engine damage.

Yes I use the Bosch Platinum+4 in my 2000 s2000. There is definitely a difference in performan than the NGK. Imagine because you are generating a hotter spark. I've had the plugs for over a year before I actually installed them in my car. I had heard that sometimes they would cause missing and that it was better to stay with the factory installed plugs. The factory installed plugs had already had a recall because of gasket issues and the plugs coming lose. When I installed the Bosch I notice an immediate difference pertaining to performance and a little more torgue in low in rpm. I haven't dealt with any missing as of yet, and I imagine with the compression ratio on the s2000, the hotter plugs definitely increase the performance.

YES I USE THE BOSCH PLATINUN 4 IN MY 2000 S2000, AND I NOTICE A TREMENDOUS DIFFERENCE THAN THE NGK R THE DEALERSHIP WAS USING. IT SEEMS LIKE THE CAR HAS MORE POWER AND A LITTLE MORE LOW IN TORQUE. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF INSTALLING SOME COMPTECH HEADERS AND IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO SEE HOW THEY RESPOND WITH THE PLUGS.
