Hrm. I'd feel pretty prestigious with a 911, not a Boxster. That's part of the reason I purchased the S2K instead.

I guess the same can be said about our cars and the NSX

My dad has a Boxster S. His options were M030 suspension, heated seats, traction control, DSP stereo, hard top, cruise, regular Arctic Silver paint... Maybe the wind deflector, I don't remember. That's about it. It was less than an extra $10k, I think. It's a great car and pretty much optioned the way I would get it, except I'd probably delete the fancy stereo and add the Litronic headlights.

If he had the money to go wild, I think he should have added the aerokit ($46,) all sorts of leather, carbon fibre and aluminum interior bits, Cobalt Blue metalic paint ($3k,) 18" wheels ($2.6k,) full leather ($4k)... Then there's stuff I can't find prices for, like the nav system, body color keyed roll hoops, funky interior coloring schemes, two-stage exhaust.

It's like what people do to some of their Hondas - they personalize it as far as possible. Seems normal to me.

Metallic paint, non special order is more like $800. The partial leather comes standard, full leather is expensive. HID is around $1,100 with the mandatory headlight washers.

I stick with my $55 for a nice, performance oriented 986S price...

Thanks folks for setting me right about leather seats. BTW, if I were to buy a Boxster, I think I would go with full leather, etc., as I would want all the luxury as well as the performance. This would be a Porsche, anyway! My '86 turbo had full leather... it was nice. S2K is a better driver's car, imo.

Who else liquidated their equity to buy the S2K then watched as their $35K car skyrocket to $70K?

Chuckled with that one. I did write an E*Trade check to pay for this Honda! It actually makes the S2K as though I paid $17.5K considering the market retreat.

Anything over 55k is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAy too much for a Boxster S. Especially with the E46 M3 coming out soon.

While the new M3 certainly pushes all the right performance buttons, I still can't get excited about its looks... Not even in the same league as the S2K or Boxster.

Maybe the cabrio will be nicer looking.
