Brake Calipers - This Ticks Me Off!
I just saw a brand new CRV at the dealer and this modest SUV has really nice brake calipers!!
Instead of the plain/dull grey industrial looking calipers on my S2K, the CRV has beautiful shiny silver calipers that look like either a baked on enamel or very shiny powder coat. Also the finish/machining looks better there are no rough edges or casting marks.
Gee Honda, why doesn't your flagship car have these calipers?

If it is a powder coat job shouldn't is resist heat?
I notice Rick powder coats brake calipers with good results.
After all, Corvette and Porsches have factory red calipers which heat up as much or more than S2K calipers.
If the CRV coating is weak that makes sense to leave them off, but it shows that Honda does care about the appearance of brake calipers, if they care for CRV's, shouldn't they care for their flagship?
Thanks for the reply.

I think it is just a plating (probably zinc / tin) commonly used on many Honda / Acura products.. will hold up to heat just fine. I don't know why the factory chose to use the dull finish on the S2000 which is not great when new but really looks bad as it turns dingy with heat exposure.
I'm guessing that if Honda added all the "why didn't Honda give us bigger, better, faster, cooler whatevers" we would be seeing posts "Why does Honda change $40K for an S2000?"
but acx, I do see your point...
This concept of charging more for extras makes sense if we are talking about putting the Porsche brakes on the S2000 (or something equivalent), but I'm simply saying why didn't they put the nice CRV calipers on an S2000, or apply that surface treatment ? They already have this technolgy in their parts bin/supply system.
I'm not asking for anything very expensive here, just a little attention to detail.
