Default Brake and Gas Pedal Distance

I drove my first S2000 today and I was totally suprised by the distance between the brake and gas pedal...I wear a size ten shoe and I actually could fit my foot between the two pedals....I have a serious problem driving a manual without being able to blip the gas on downshifts.....I don't have that problem on my miata.....that said I want a blue S2000 very badly...I have one more year on my miata and then I am trading it in....

Maybe someone could design a replacement brake pedal for folks with this problem (Mingster?). I haven't driven one yet, but I did sit in one and that was the first thing I checked. Seemed ok to me at the time, but maybe I was a bit excited. Guess I'll find out when Roxanne arrivess.

I too notice this problem, I can't get to the throttle without slipping off the brake. Lots have people reported that the placement is perfect and so I assumed it was me. I would very much like a bigger brake pedal, one that extends another 3/4" at least to the right of stock. I haven't measured it.

On the other hand, I believe the correct technique is to blip with your heel, and not the side of your foot. No?

i'm with you... my last car was a 95 civic si in which i put a momo pedal on the accelerator. heel and toe-ing was second nature with that set up. now, i've switched over to the s2k, and i have to make a concerted effort to have my foot positioned properly before braking. there have been times where i've gone to blip and come up with nothing but air. it would be a shame to cover up that cool-looking pedal with something else, but i'm giving mine about a month more to see if i get accustomed or not.
ps. wirejock, i would venture to guess that it's the accel pedal that would need the mod. brake pedal seems about the right size/place for me.

If you use the ball of your foot on the brake pedal and just rotate your foot, it's no problem to hit the throttle with your heel (and I have small feet).

I prefer this method to using the side of your foot anyway, because this way you can have the ball of your foot planted securely on the brake pedal; less danger of slipping of the brake!

Yea everyone has there way of blipping the throttle...there is no incorrect/correct way...I was just amazed...you could always bend the gas pedal...which my friend is going to do...

By the way never bend the brake pedal....

The posts in this thread are more than two years old. I still find it difficult to properly fix my heel in place and use the brake as I try to blip the throttle during downshifting under threshhold braking. Does anyone know of an aftermarket brake pedal that reaches further to the right?

The gas pedal can be bent to move it closer to the brake. A couple of us have done this in So. Cal. to make it easier to heel/toe.
