Default Brake Question

My front brakes are starting to squeek. I think the rotors are uneven and pads need to get changed. I was thinking that I should take this chance to upgrade my brakes.

Do you guys have any recommendations for upgrading just the rotors and pads? Places with good prices for brake parts?

From my search of past posts, it seems as if most think that a BBK is overkill. In my case, it would be as I don't track my car. However, they look so good. Are there good entry level BBKs that I can look into? I research the Wilwood kit a bit and it looks like a good kit for <$1200.

Thanks in advance.

Get the wilwoods. Ask partshelper.

The wilwoods look nice and also are lighter, so you'll have better steering feel, which you can enjoy on the street. The pads are cheap and there are tons of pad options.

Pads would be enough.

I agree, just get a good set of pads and call it good. I am sure you will be more than happy with that. That is unless you are a baller, in which case go ahead and spend the 1000-1500 bux on a crazy brake setup.

You could paint the calipers, and add the S2000 stickers to them.
Then get some new rotors and pads and be done.

The Spoon calipers are sweet looking.

What pads would you guys recommend? Hopefully not too much brake dust. I think I am going to go with the Stoptech OEM size rotors and Stoptech SS brakelines. Anyone got experience with those?

Stock brake pads seem to work fine. If you don't plan on really "upgrading" to a bbk and you're not going to the track, just get stock pads.

Mine had a flex problem, which bothered me a bit, but the braking was still noticably improved on the track. The weight loss (18lbs unsprung weight) also gave the car better steering feel (and maybe a little better performance thanks to the weight).

I also liked that track pads were $50 vs the $100+ per axle I was paying for OEM size race pads.

I had the original prototype wilwood kit that sherwin had on his car (the only one with engraved hats ). Since then, I know the caliper has been through atleast 1 more generation. The kit itself may have also been improved, but I do not know.

Anyway, I didn't have any problems with my kit that would deter me from getting another one. I used my wilwood kit at several tracks before removing it and it help up like a champ (my lease ended).
