Default Brake upgrades

Hello- Just purchased an 02. Thinking about upgrading the brakes as my first mod.
I would like to keep the stock wheel diameter- no yellow box. Therefore I am trying to research rim/tire combinations that keep the overall stock diameter and allow for upgraded brakes.
I've started in the wheel/fitment post and looked at a brake fitment post as well and still haven't found exactly what I am looking for. Maybe someone can help or point me in the right direction.
Specifically, I think I have gathered that the Spoon brake upgrade will fit on OEM 16" tires--is this true?
And is the Spoon brake setup a substantial improvement, or should I look for something larger? And therefore larger rim/smaller tire.
Mildly partial to the Spoon for simple appearances, I think the blue will look good through the tire with my sebring silver body.
Any help or sense of direction is appreciated. I have really enjoyed the forum and community so far.
Thanks.

Go for some Sub-Zero Rotors. They are all the rage in FL.

Why do you want to "upgrade" the brakes? What are you looking for?

My thoughts along that line go something like this--
In order of precedence--
SHorter stopping distances, less fade than stock for future track days, cool looking caliper & rotors through tires/personalization of car.

Again any other suggestions or insights are welcome. I am very new to the car. The enthusiasm of s2ki members and the wealth of info on this site has me thinking about the S in ways I had not thought about other cars. My current sense of direction is obviously based on my currently limited experience, but I am very excited to continue to broaden my horizons.

Thanks again.

For actual performance, people who track their car all the time or even race it generally agree the only thing necessary is to use race pads. Some of us also have brake ducting. Most of us use the OEM stock pads on the street, though.

For bling, it's all personal taste. That's why I asked.

Spoon calipers will NOT fit under any S2000 OEM rim without a 10mm-20mm spacer. If you are keeping stock rims or rims without good brake clearance look at the wilwood 4-pots.

You can keep the stock tire diameter with any sized rim, just adjust the tire size.

Best bet for a good rim that will fit BBK (Including Stoptech) without a spacer is the Prodrive GC-07.

Spoon is not a big improvement although it is better than stock. In that price range your best bet is the stoptechs if you aren't looking to spend $4K on brakes (endless).

Look to spend a lot of money ie atleast $5K for rims, brakes and tires if you want an improvement over stock.

Stock is fine for performance. On the track, all you need is race pads and high temp. brake fluid. Unless you're planning on endurance racing, you don't need more brakes. Brake upgrades for this car don't reduce stopping distance. The car is tire traction limited...the stock brakes have enough thermal capacity not to fade.

I agree, brake fluid is of course key, then a set of pads that won't fade at the track and you should be fine.

I know a couple people on here (and I'm sure there's more) that track their cars a lot and went with Stoptech kits -- loved them. If I wasn't such a JDM Endless whore I would go for that kit (if you decide to up the ante).

I like the Spoon kit for what it is though, esp the rotors. It looks good and I'm sure you can pick up a nice used set of calipers on here from somebody -- that way I would imagine the entire kit would cost about half of what you would pay for another kit new.
