Default brakes

Whats a good brake setup for the s2k? I want to go with something thats going to maintain comfort and safty, not something thats over powering or that could cause me to lock up the wheels everytime I stop, any advice would help..

Are you having any problems with the OEM brakes? Why do you ask this question?

It doesn't sound like this is competition-related.

Stock is exactly what you are looking for. Anything else is either going to be worse, louder, or dustier, or overkill for whatever kind of driving you are up to.

I understand your thought process... most stock cars brakes are designed for one or 2 good stops and thats it. However our car doesn't fall into this category.

After chatting with a lot of guys here that track and take their S2000's to the limit, I found that every single one of them stands by the stock brake setup. From the weekend trackers to the Honda Cup guys. All they do is change to race pads, fluid, and start mashin.

I tracked my stock setup with stock pads and fluid in the beginning and THAT even held up all day. The car was stopping just as I wanted with no fade at all.. until the next day, when I rolled right through a stop sign and intersection with the brake pedal buried. (boiled my stock fluid) I switched to Hawk race pads (swapped in on trackday) and Motul RBF 600 fluid and never had a problem again.

Sooo... maybe your question is... "Which pads and Fluid can I use that will give me better performance?"

I'd say some good Hawk Street pads and Motul fluid.

Or would you really just like to see a nice pretty aftermarket caliper resting under your wheels?

Maybe Both?

Personally I'd love to have a set of Spoon calipers, mainly cause they're Sexy. Not cause they stop better than OEM.

Most advanced drivers at an hpde require some hi performance or race pads. I been VERY happy with Carbotech. Call them, I think they offer 5% off to people who run HPDE's.

you have to try ferodo ds2500 for street (front and rears)! Makes the biggest differnce! Love them lots more than Carbotech, Hawk HP Plus and stock! For track just swap them out for the DS 3000 and run the DS 2500 in the rear.
Cant go wrong

If I could cough up 1300$ I would like to have some good lookin drilled/slotted rotors and a flashy set of calipers but for now I think I'm going to try the hawk pads with some different fluid.. I used all motul products in my sport bikes so I know its all good stuff. I purchased some hawk pads for my daily driver integra a few years ago but never installed them. (sold with the vehicle) Wheres a good place to purchase them(as far as best price goes?)

You really need to move this post to S2000 Talk. In fact, I'll go out on a limb and assume it's about to be moved for you.
