Default brakes are squeaky!

I was told they need replacing soon..and now they're squeaking pretty bad...I was thinking slotted all around, but the guy at the local shop here said its a waste of time for just street driving which is all I do..I don't race, but do drive it hard sometimes, but not liek a mad man

I'm pretty much stock except 18's and a 1 inch drop..what do you guys recommened me getting for pads? or shoudl I go slotted? I'm not looking to spend crazy bling so if slotted is expensive (and from what I have been told is useless for what I need it for) I don't htink I'll go that way..anyawys I thought I'd ask the pro's and see what you guys think

OEM pads should be all you need. And probably only for the front, though that needs to be determined by inspection. Why do you think you need new rotors?

Your call, US$550 v. <US$100.

Unless you have money to burn, no.

I recommend OEM rotors and pads. I have used the OEM brakes pretty hard, and not quite experienced brake fade, although I have come close. Another thing is, the carbon brake pads that you mention will dust like a mofo. Your wheels will be black in less than 300 miles.

Like others have said, the OEM brakes are more than sufficient for street driving.

What makes you think you need rotors?

Check out the prices on the front and rear pads.

http://www.slhondaparts.com/browse.asp?Mod...atalogId=14S2A0

Front pad set: $38.72
Rear pad set: $47.22
Total parts: (not including local sales tax) $85.94

$800.00 for a brake job=

All he's actually said is that his brakes "squeek". I'm guessing that means that one or more of the pads are worn to the point where the tabbed indicator thingie if contacting the rotor. But I'm not sure.

Grey, either pull the wheels off and inspect the brakes yourself, or if you don't feel up to that then ask your mechanic:

1) what are the minimum pad thicknesses on each of the four corners of the car?

2) what are the rotor thicknesses on each of the four corners of the car?

3) what do you recommend for a simple replacement, not for an "upgrade" to aftermarket rotors and pads?

4) how much is it for parts and labor?

You will probably find that either only the front pads or only the rear pads actually need to be replaced at this time. If they are all close to the minimums, then go ahead and replace them all. It seems very unlikely that you need new rotors.
