Default Braking at high speed....

I was going pretty fast last night and when I tried to slow down, my brakes felt like it was rattling and my car didnt brake smoothly at all. This car brakes works so well at lower speed but it felt really weird last night. What might have cause this? ANyways, this wasnt the first time...happened before too.

Does the steering wheel shake when you do that ???
If so, the problem should come from the wheels that hasn't been torqued properly...They must be torqued at 85 lbs/ft with a criss cross patern....( i'm not sure of my english right now but it's not far of what i want to say !!! )

I dont feel anything from the steering wheel. However, I could feel the brake pedal shaking(rattling) when braking.

So have a look to your rotors ( check both side ) they should be glazed... If so have them resurfaced. And since you are there have your wheels torqued properly.

Your discs are probably warped. If they are not worn too much, they will be able to resurface them. If not, you'll need new discs, and probably new pads.

Discs usually warp after becoming extremely hot from intense braking. I was able to get new discs under warranty for my Civic after arguing that I had never slammed on the brakes rally hard.

Your rotors may be warped. I had a problem in my WRX whereby when braking hard from about 140km/hr + I would get shuddering.

How many kms/miles have you done on your rotors?

I would expect your rotors to last a little longer than that (probably around 30,000 miles) under NORMAL conditions. If you take your car to the track though, the life of your rotors could be greatly reduced.

It would be worth either taking it to a dealer or a brake specialist and checking to see if you can get your rotors machined, assuming they are still thick enough.

If not you might have to get new rotors.

If the dealer doesn't find anything wrong, it could have been the antilock braking system kicking in in the normal fashion.
