Remember, you only reap what you sow.
Thanks to everyone for the education. Keep 'em coming. And don't be afraid to begin your reply, "you idiot...". Latest update is that I was able to at least convince my salesman to personally pick up the vehicle as opposed to letting some yahoo "hired car mover" transport the car. I told him if he exceeds 5k RPM he'll be killed. He seems to be trustworthy. What else do I need to know about taking car of my new beast?
There's plenty of enjoyment in the car below 6,000 RPM. Ain't a bad idea to get used to the handling of the car before really putting down the power anyway.
I personally kept the RPMs varied between 3000 and 5500 all during this period, and probably entered VTEC range slightyl 2 or 3 times when pulling out into traffic.
Don't listen to the dealer. Mine told me to rotate the tires.

They are different sizes front to rear and directional so you can't rotate them. It is possible to swap them left to right but they have to come off the rims and be remounted. Most dealers don't have a clue about the car they are selling. Read the owners manual.
I went to a dealer in Seattle after having put mine on order who I saw had 2 out front just to look. High pressure salesman showed up. He wanted to take me for a test drive and I said that was ok I had already driven one. He asked if I reved it up and I said no since I drove a new one and you can't exceed 5500 RPM for the first 600 miles. He told me that that was not true. I took out the manual and showed him and he said it was a mis print corrected in later manuals. Then he proceeded to tell me that since the car had a pressurized fuel system you have to wait 5 minutes after you start it before you can shut it back down. I have no idea where he came up with that one! Oh and the tires will last for 30,000 miles if you drive carefully! George
