I agree with the reliability side of it...

I am just curious if all of us who have broken in the car to Honda spec's have cheated ourselves of 10-15 HP...

I don't buy the story you get more HP from ignoring the break-in recommendation (I had more power than any other at one dyno day and I followed the book). But even if it made a difference it would not be more than a couple of HP.. most good mods won't make 10.

I am glad that you said that you were on the high side of the HP and you broke your car in properly. That is exactly the kind of info I am looking for.

Thanks. I'll continue along the no VTEC until 600 miles. Only have a little under 200 to go.

Can you recall who had the 201 HP and who had the 185 HP?

I don't know how the others were broken in, but I was less than 1 HP from the top at my 1st dyno day, and was at the top for my last dyno day (of the NA S2000s).

A friend of mine (who also has on '02) told me, and probably the salesman. Actually, I wasn't aware of the 5500 RPM thing. I was just told not to VTEC, so I kept it below 6000.

I got my stock S2000 on the dyno and I got 216 RWHP at 8200+RPM On another dyno day I saw many S2000s get anywhere from 214 to as much as 245 RWHP NA. So if your only getting 185 to 201 HP you guys must not have been at sea level or did it on a very hot day. You guys can check with UL as he knows quite a bit about dynos.
