Default breaking in my new s2000?

OKay so ive had my car for one week. Car has 255 miles on it. I havent gone above 5k rpms yet and have not done any hard accelerations. I've done a search on the forums and they told the others to not use cruise control for the first 700 miles? WHY?? Should i change out my oil at 1k miles?

Hey, we're in the same boat. I have about 400 miles on mine. I have heard before that you are supposed to constantly change rpm/load and cruise control on a flat road will not do this. I think the first oil change is in the regular amount of time. My oil change indicator still show 100% life???

You should change your oil according to the oil indication, that's what its there for. I used cruised control before 700 miles, and in the handbook, it never mentioned anything about not using cruise control before 700 miles...

most breakin period for cars is around 1K. then you can Vtec and drive hard. When i had the subaru wrx/sti. i drove that thing like i was driving miss daisy. then at 1K, I put the Pedal down soooo hard that I pissed in my pants!!

When running in an engine, you don't want to run it in at a certain rpm and in 1 gear. Regularly change rpm's, use different gears etc

I did not go over 5000 RPMs for the first 600 miles. I have 4400 miles on my car now and my oil life is at 50%. Don't change your oil to soon.

In-town driving. Don't make long highway trips. It's that easy.

Followeed the book. I did change to Mobil 1 at 4800. Just turned over 10000 with no problems.
