The Britts build Jaguars...their taste in sports cars is a little strange.

I'm sure when our friends on the other side of the pond see this thread they will be all over it, I can't wait.

I suspect the reason is the British are confused about how an open top car could actually have functioning electronics. This dichotomy must confuse them so they can't give it a valid review.

Well, I'm British and like my S2000 despite long running problems with it!

I'd agree that the UK press don't really like the car too much. Personally, the only real problem with the S2000 in the UK is that the chassis setup isn't very good for a lot of the bumpy/poor roads over here. Great on smooth roads though

Driving on the other side of the road changes the performance characteristics completely!

Seriously, I suspect they say it looks good on paper because it does and they can't bring themselves to drop the clutch to repeat those stats.

I agree. I've tried driving the S on the WRONG side of the road too.

I think the Brits are into Nostalgia when it comes to sports cars... there's something about a British sports car...

The problem with a lot of these magazines is that they are so far up Subaru and Mitsubishis ar$e that they don't appreciate what the car actually stands for, engineering excellence!!

Anyone can slap a dustbin sized turbo charger on a bland jap saloon and make it go like the clappers, however its not all doom and gloom, Top Gear love the car and What Car gives it a 5 star rating.

The car isn't perfect over here, it does suffer from bump steer as Brian stated, also its handling is race track tuned which means that for the average driver the car is not as forgiving as some of its contempories, however in the hands of experts it probably excels.

One other argument as to why EVO in particular don't lavish it with praise is that Honda UK don't support the magazine to the same tune as Porsche, Subaru and Mitsubishi and god forbid they slate a car manufactured by one of their biggest advertisers

Not true. British car magazines don't like it.

In fact, there are many devoted S2000 owners in England and a number of clubs.
