Default Broke my latch.

Let this be a reminder to NEVER let your friends touch the latch when you put the top up ... I always do it, however this time, a friend of mine was a little too quick to the punch. This is the end result:

(if someone wants to host, thanks!)
Just to let you know, the white part on the end is unpainted metal that snapped. Hopefully it won't be raining, so there will be no need to drive with the top up for the next few days, while the part is on order.

Drrrr, I never post pics ... so what do you expect? It all happened so quick, I think he tried to latch the passenger side and just pushed the latch into the metal lock, rather then under it. I think he's banned from all my future S2k outings (His EP3 hatch seems to suit him better ).

That really sucks....all of my friends that ride with me are familiar with how it works, and they know my car is my baby, so IF they do latch it, they are always careful!

Don't get too worked up, 'cause of all the bad things that your friend could have done, this is relatively minor and inexpensive to fix (as long as it is just the latch mechanism - I can't see the picture).

The dealership broke my latch and had it replace in less than five minutes.

i think that latch is like $80, but dealer retail will be likely over $100.

Hey, thanks much for hosting the pic. Took it to the dealer today, at first they told me I would NOT be covered under warranty ... and the part was going to be $140 (ROFL). However, after speaking with a few other people @ the dealership, they agreed that the part was defective (I'll post more pics later ... there are actual porous holes in the metal, these latches aren't as strong as you'd expect).
Thanks again,
Dan
