its not expensive.. if you can install an exhaust, you could most probably change a wheel stud.

I think you could have bought an "easy out" for less than $15 bucks and done the job yourself. I've never used one but saw one used years ago on a steering column. I assume it woud work.

i remember snapping a stud when tightening up my rim awhile back..i'm not sure if i was cheated out of my money but i took my car to honda and they quoted me alittle over 300bucks...it's suppossed to be a 3hour job b/c you have to remove the rotor, then try to save the hub and all this other stuff...but then again i warped just about all 5 studs that day..i must have had that retard strength that day..it was a costly mistake and i was probably cheated out of my money...that's why i use a torque wrench now

Jeez this is why im glad I own my own shop. Its a simple job involving a slide hammer if you have one. I wouldnt of gave the exhaust free, if you offered your help and you accidently stripped a stud then I would feel that it is on him since you offered free labor.

not much effort to replace the stud, you know the situation tho.
buy one at autozone and put it in, press it in using the existing lug nut, maybe, but better to get a junk fastener from autozone while your there.

-dont damage your car, its like ~80+ft-lb for a lug nut so get that $19 torque wrench and use it for low resolution things like this. dosnt need to be exact.
-get some anti seize grease, works on the exhaust + lug nuts. hi temp rating (if you can find it) is great for exhaust components.

so the dealership quotes the guy 155 for the stud replace and 350ish for the stud and wheel bearing.

i told him the wheel bearing is not necessary. his car has 11k on the clock.

called a SD shop that someone in SD recomended and they quoted me 40 bucks. then when i told him about the dealership prices he said worse case scenario would be 96.

w t fizzle is going on? no wonder they call it "dealer"ship.

i snapped off a stud off my rear wheel hub. there is not enough room to stick a stud back there. you must remove and replace the wheel hub.
