Last year I had mine replaced--I had a large dimple near the defroster-it almost looked like a finger imprint. it was replaced, though it took 3 months-I had to call Customer service to get it replaced--even when two dealers admitted it was deffective. After that point- I seriously considered selling it--but I liked the car to much. My new dash has small bubbles but I'm not going thru this again so I just ignore it. I figure I'll probably have the car for another two years and I might consider the new Z.

Some folks that had their dashboards replaced reported that the bubbles occurred at the ends of the steel fasteners that hold the dash in place. Apparently the ends needed to be insulated, and they weren't. The fasteners conducted heat into the plastic and caused it to bubble.

I've got two small bubbles myself, which are marginally irritating. I'll probably request a replacement this summer.

I have a dimple in my dash, right above the tach, just like Wesmaster. Mine hasn't been getting any bigger either so I just ignore it. RHES2K got his dash replaced. He told me that heat from the engine is what casues the dimples. The dimples appear because a piece of insulation is missing under the dash. I'm debating whether to take it in to get repaired. RHES2K told me that they had to take apart a lot of the car to replace the dash. Wondering if it's worth doing or not.

Does anyone know exactly how much of the car has to be taken apart?? RHES2K was having the seatbelt recall at the same time, so they had a lot of the car apart anyway.

maybe time to get your seatbelt fixed too? i would guess that they wont fix the bubbles at no cost to you after your warranty is out...

My other dash had these bubbles also. They are present on the new dash also. They don't bother me since it doesn't affect the surface--meaning I don't feel a dip or a buldge in the vinyl, so I'm not going to have it repalced again. I figure they all will end up this way.

Good idea. Maybe I'll get the other stuff done first like the tranny.

In fact, the tranny and clutch are the ones you want to hold off as long as you can.
