Default Build up plan

From what I've read so far it appears that the best bang for the buck would be a FI solution over a NA build up. That said and moving on to a budget bear bones build up (until I can save for fi) i'm planning the following;

Phase1
Suspension: X-brace
Intake: K&N filter or AEM CAI
Exhaust: just a test pipe

Phase2
Rollers: Light weight 17's

Phase3
FI

***

From what I've read the phase one build up will give approx half the max gains of a full NA build for about $150 to $300. This will allow me to enjoy decent gains until I can save enough for FI and won't be faced with a big sell off of NA parts.

Trying to get the game plan together. What do you guys think, make any sense?

You're asking opinions on which parts to get. When you're ready to ask about how to install them, come on back to UTH.

I have one on my Acura CL-S with the bypass valve, no problems for 60k miles. But I think the power gain is not as much with the valve.

That's the problem with the by-pass valve. You tend to lose the benefit of what the intake was originally designed to do. You may as well have not gotten it at all. It may still be a "cold"air intake but the AEM is also a "performance" intake. The by-pass eliminates the performance part of the equation.

So I guess everyone agrees that an intake and test pipe will give approx half of the gains of a full NA build up?

i hydrolocked my GSR in FL with the AEM.

Tel1sps, staten island is NOT socal or FL. It rains every day in the summer in FL (but not long) and spring brings tons or rain. Socal brings lots of rain, too. You may be OK in Staten, but S2000 blocks are not cheap.

Tel1sps, I would get the Comptech.

I may just use a K&N filter in the stock box.....

BTW it rains and floods alot here, the bypass valve will prevent any problems but will reduce performance gains. Like I said above I have over 60k miles with no problems on the Acura.

I posted my solution to hyrolocking in this thread (towards the bottom)...

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...&f=22&t=259744

It eliminates anything short of submerging the filter, from causing hydrolock.

in FL it is easy to submerge the filter. trust me. there is 18" water in many places you would NEVER expect.
