Default Which bumper?

My brother backed into my car and cracked the paint. He is going to pay to get the bumper repainted, so I thought, "Why not get a new bumper and have him paint it?" I like the 04 OEM bumper, but not for the $600 hardtopguy wants with shipping. Any other bumpers out there that I should consider? I am not looking for anything wild or crazy, as the rest of the body is stock. Thanks!

There are a bunch of bumpers out there man, start searching.

Here are some ones that aren't "wild or crazy" as you say that I can think of off the top of my head:
GP Sports
Amuse R1
Spugen J's half lip replica

although I don't much care for it there is also the C-West front that isn't too wild. Lots of people seem to like it.

I'm sure there are some others but those are all I can think of of the top of my head...

You should look for a used bumper. Any aftermarket FULL bumper that is going to fit even remotly well, and not waste HOURS of body shop time to paint and install is going to cost at LEAST $600.

I wasn't completely against spending $600 for a bumper, but only if it was something other than an OEM one. Thanks for the info guys.

The bumper listed on HTG site is about 250.00. So you're saying that he is charging 350.00 to ship it? Doesn't sound right to me.

You need a bunch of other parts to make it work on an AP1... fender liners, lower bumper support, new rebar (or modify old one), tow hook cover, etc...

That is why it comes out at a higher price.

Also freight cost what freight costs. Sometimes, on really large items it can be cheaper to buy at list price locally. You would not buy a pallet of bricks and have them shipped 1/2 way across the country would you?

Wait a minute here. Just a few years ago, persons unknown messed up my AP1 rear bumper in a parking lot. I turned it in to my insurance company, as I've got a $250 deductible. The body shop put a brand new factory bumper on it and painted it for about $450. I paid my $250, and the insurance comapny paid $200. So unless there are major mounting problems in putting an AP2 bumper on an AP1, we're talking WAY too much money here.

Thanks,
Richard
