Hello Gang:

I decided not to put the front license plate on the car so I ordered two bumper caps to fill up the holes on my front bumper (2 round holes on each side). Now, each bumper cap has two prongs that go into each of the two round holes on my front bumpers. However, the prongs are too small for the holes so the bumper cap does not stay on the bumper. Since the prongs look like they are the snap-on type, I thought the bumper caps would just snap onto the holes on the bumper. Do I need to apply some sort of adhesives on the back of the cap? It doesn't look right to me since the prongs don't appear to be doing anything. Please advise. Thanks.

PS- I recall reading some posts on this topic but could not find it using the search function. Maybe I didn't use the correct key words..

 

When I put mine on, I had to take the bumper off becuase the bracket fell in the bumper when I push the cap in. Easiest way to do it is take the bumper off,(pain in the ass) otherwise you will never get the cap to stay on

 

The plugs should just snap right in. Have you tried prying the "prongs" apart enough to initiate contact with the inside wall of the tubes? It's possible to stress the plastic beyond recovery so be prudent with your efforts.

 

You must first determine if the brackets are on the bumper. Do you see the metallic thing in the holes. You should also see the threads through the holes. If you have no threads, then the bracket has fallen off. If you don't wish to take the bumper of and put the bracket back on, you will have to glue the plugs in place. Try silicone seal.
