Default Bumper Damage Opinions

When I purchased the car, it was lowered and the front bumper had quite a bit of road rash and some rub marks. The car was returned to stock height soon afterwards and all this time later I'm now looking at doing something about the damage.

Take note of the vertical rub marks near the driver's side as well as well as the deep scratches along the bottom edge. Don't take note of the car being filthy.

Is this repairable or am I looking at a replacement? Would anyone care to venture a ballpark estimate for either option? Know anyone selling an AP2 SSM bumper in good condition?

Thanks for your opinions guys and gals,
-James

One option to consider is an OEM front lip -- they come prepainted to match your car and very easy to install-- would cover all the damage.

I'm in the same situation as you JSenek. I suggest you to get a front lip as that will cover all those scratches. Thats what I'm planning to do once I find a good deal on one.

Thanks for the quick replies, fellas. I am seriously considering the front lip option. The only problem is that it would not cover the vertical mark near the driver's side (look just below the headlight).

If I went with the lip anyways, do you think that I could I get the remaining mark fixed later? Is the lip removable?

Yeah, a lip would cover the damage at the bottom...but the scratches near the headlight look like they would need the work of a body shop, paint work.

Ask yourself if you want the lip or not, because either way you will want to have your bumper fully repainted to fix the other areas. At that point you wouldn't necessarily need the lip to cover the damage since it would have fresh paint.

Personally, I am still on the fence with the front lip. Sometimes they look ok, and then other times they just look too much like an afterthought that is tacked on. None of the other body molding looks this way so it kind of seems out of place to me compared to just the stock bumper.

I am in the same situation, I guess. I didn't consider the front lip because I thought it would have the potential to scrape even more.

Anyway, what is the approximate cost for a painted front lip, OEM?

Going to have an estimate done on Monday.

A new lip is ~$450 shipped, so I'll have to consider if the price difference and having to walk 3 miles to work in the chilly air at 7AM while the car is repaired is worth being completely blemish free.
