My experience is that oil consumption is directly correlated to the amount of time you spend VTECing. I didn't burn a drop until after I hit 600 miles. After that, I went through 2.5-3 qts before I changed my oil at 4k.

I have about 25k miles now and I go through about a quart every 2-3k miles.

I also believe that there is a TSB out from Honda on this very issue...something along the lines of "it is normal for S2000 to use up to 1qt of oil every 1000 miles".

You're dealer's an ass.

With that amount of crap coming out his mouth, I think he used to be a salesman

Find a new dealership...and make sure that you tell the old one WHY you are not going to have your car serviced there.

Email the link to this thread to your dealer, "Attention: Service Manager AND Dealer Principle". Tell him he's got his head up his ass and should get out more. Then RUNNNNN!!! DO NOT let these bozos touch your car for any reason!.

Just to update you, I went into the dealer that sold me the car today. He has was stunned to hear what the other dealership had said.
I told him what you guys/girls had to say and he agrees, he only deals with a few of these cars but said that it is not uncommon for them to burn a little oil.

Just wanted to say thanks for the comments and I will be forwarding them onto the dealership, as they have lost my custom through ignorance of a car that they sell, quite crap really.

Thanks again
Anthony

I have found (and I have read else where on this board) that the more time you spend in VTEC range the more your oil consumption. In a two day driving school at the track I'd burn maybe a quart. Around town there is no consumption. I changed to Mobil 1 at 7,500 miles and now have 13,000.

PS Also, on the track my gas milage drops to about 10mpg. Regardless of how your S may act - pay attention to it. Always check fluids, tire pressures, hose fittings, signs of leaks. This car is everyman's Ferrari!!

Perhaps you should take the dealer up on thier ingnorance for awhile. Chances are you could get a new s2k every 3000 to 6000 miles "because this one is burning oil too".
Hmmmmmmmmm....I think Ill try the black on red this time.

Sime is correct. My friend is a Honda tech and called me on Friday to warn me about oil consumption. He said Honda had just sent dealers a TSB on the issue.

My U.K. dealer told me to check my oil on a weekly basis and top up with Mobil 1 as necessary.
I followed his advice and shall continue to do so.
All seems to be fine.
