To Buy a Bra or Not to Buy a Bra
Just wondering if anyone has purchased a bra for their S2000 and if it is worth it. Mine is Black so we all know how chips show up on black cars. I also want to ask if it is true that a bra can ruin the paint and or the paint will not age at the same rate as the rest of the car causing the front of the car to be a diferent color to the rest of the car.
Side note: Love my S2000, been wanting one for 4 years and I am happy I waited for the glass window and interior upgrades. I wonder if it is worth the time and energy Honda spent to develop the 2.2 vtec for 2004??
<---- no reason just thought he was funny

I'm going to be purchasing one that I will use for any possible long interstate trips that I take. Otherwise, I'll leave it off because I think they generally look ugly. If you get a cheap bra or put it on incorrectly it can scratch the paint, so be careful. Also, you do not want to leave a wet bra on your car (if you allow it to get wet to begin with). As far as your car being black, I'd think that the chips would actually show up the least. Mine is Silverstone, so I don't have any direct experience with black, but the chips that I do have are all black because that's what color the front bumper is underneath. I could be wrong about this.
Here are a couple of links to some options:

The second one is of a carbon fiber looking type bra. Although I would guess that a black bra would look best on your S2000, I'm wondering if anyone has ever seen a carbon fiber looking bra and how it would look on my Silverstone.

Also, welcome to the board!

I've got a Colgan.........only put it on for the longer drives.........front of my car was taking a beating, the paint chips if you look at it wrong........if you drive the car, it's a good investment............

I have a colgan bra that I only use on hwy trips and club drives (an unbelievable amount of stuff gets tossed up by those s02's). It works pretty well...but only when it is on, of course. I have since discovered that just driving around on surface streets for 30k miles will tear up the paint pretty well. So, if I had it to do over again, I would have spent the cash on the 3M stuff.
To all of you putting on vinyl bras, please get some taste and a bit of anal-retentive antidote on the side.
The 3M clear bras are great, but far from being impervious. Their guarantee is that if you get a chip, it'll chip the film, but not the paint and this WILL happen if you drive your car like it's meant to be driven. That chip on the clear bra material will be just as noticeable as a chip on the bumper so pls do keep this in mind.
The benefit to putting on a clear bra is that you retain the factory paint, but really, even factory paint comes in different shades between color applied on plastic (e.g. bumper) and sheet metal (e.g. fender panel). But who really cares?
In the end, it's somewhat of a toss-up, but I'd shell out the cash again for peace-of-mind and it plain works (just not as perfect as I thought it would work).
Make sure you get a quality cut that gives you the most coverage without skipping steps (some of the cheaper ones make a lot of tiny slant cuts to work around corners whereas the better film cuts/installers will form it around curves perfectly).
Good luck,
