Default buy now or latter?

looking at getting a s2000, originally wanted to get a newer ap2 and DD it, but now i have to stay with my current DD (2006 dodge ram 5.7 hemi), as i need it to tow my race trailer (karts).

Tossing around the idea of getting a 00-01 ap1, that maybe needs some work...at a cheap price...and work on it and drive it a couple days a week

so my dilemma is, do i go ahead and get a 00-01 or do i save up and grab a ap2 in the future...

thanks for the input,
devin

no time like the present. i would get the ap1 now and in 18 months you could always sell it for an ap2. i doubt you will lose that much value during that time as the depreciation of 10 year old honda's pretty much levels out.

But no seriously, in my opinion if you are a car person and don't mind doing basic maintenance then I would honestly say go with the cheaper AP1. Maybe I am partial because I have a 2000 but I got my car with 59,000 miles in 2009. The exterior and interior are in great shape and the car was just fine mechanically. It needed a new top and because of that and its age I was able to get mine for 10k which in my mind left that much more money for me to make it mine.

If you want some of the stuff like traction control and whatnot sure save up for the AP2. Its just my personal preference that I would rather buy a cheaper car and make it to my liking than spend twice as much to get it half way closer to just what I want.

Personally i would wait as long as i needed to to get the one i really wanted. i dont plan on buying anything but an MY04 or an MY05 (parts selection is better from what i have seen)

but as for what you want more...

1. test drive both
2. compare
3. ??????
4. profit

Not much of a dilemma. You really can't go wrong either way. Just live within your financial means and everything else is icing.

Life is short. Do what makes you happy NOW. No one is guaranteed to be here 18 months from now. Also, the best deals on these cars are found in the winter and during a recession.

I tend to agree with the others. If you want one, just buy one now and enjoy it. That said, early AP1s aren't that expensive. What is your budget?
