Buy from US --> Canada
Ok I really want a blue or spa yellow S2K - dumb ass Honda Canada doesn't carry yellow for 2002 - anyone know what it would take to buy a S2K from the US and get it across the border? it would be sweet if I get to the border and they ask the usual question "bought anything on your trip?" ... "yes mamm"..."what did you buy?"..."I'm sitting in it right now."
Not sure what it would take, but first off consider the currency exchange!!! Today it is $1 US = $1.5988 CDN!!!
A $32K US car will cost you $51.2K CDN, TAX ON TOP and you will have to pay GST and PST. You must really want the yellow. BTW, the blue (Monte Carlo blue) is not available in the US either.

My Husband is starting a company that is in the US and Canada. Trust me, it would be impossible, unless you paid cash. US banks can't do credit checks on Canadian citizens. Canadian banks hold US checks for 10 days, etc, etc. I don't think you would have any trouble getting the car across the border. The problem would be in the financing.

I think that there would be a substantial VAT tax when you either bring it over the border or try to reg. it.
My company leased to 911's as incentives for sales reps (they got it for one calendar quarter). I warned them to make sure the winners were in the states. Well one of the first two winners announced was in Canada. The company would have had to pay over $30K to take it over the border. They could go thru the hassle of getting a refund when it returned if they wanted to. We ended up giving the person the cash equiv. to renting a car.

It's worse than that, folks. The warranty would be null and void. There was a thread about 6 months ago, someone had a canadian S2000 in the US. Warranties are from the national arm of the company (thus AHM in the US), so the Canadian dealers/company won't honor an American warranty

Here's a good web site where you can check what it takes to import a car into Canada:

You'll notice that you will need DRLs, and stickers, in French.

Damn this is going to suck... and I just realize the tach is in miles per hours not in km and not to mention it's digital so replacing the tach is a whole new matter.
Silver or Susuka blue.. hmm.. or wait till 2003. hmm... decision.. decision.. decision
