Default Buying a COD Shell?

Well, I recently wrecked my S and I had no collision on the insurance and it was my fault so I'm screwed. I am attempting to part the car out everywhere (Craigslist, S2Ki of course and other local car forums) but my hopes of being able to purchase an early model AP1 and be back on my feet are slowly fading. I came across a person on Craigslist who was selling a COD Title shell for $2500 and was wondering if since I wouldn't be able to afford a full S right now I'd be able to purchase a shell and slowly rebuild it only for off road / track use and purchase a daily driver such as a later model Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla. Feel free to share your thoughts on this, I'm seriously debating on doing so.

How bad is your car right now? Do you still have a lien on the car?

That's a pretty cheap shell, what does cod stand for? Certificate of destruction? If so I would look into your local.lawbook and see what all the rules are. Generally, a track car would be cool, but you wouldn't be able to even drive it ( dependent on laws and insurance) if you couldn't get the title to rebuilt status. If you have a lien, I would just contact your lien holder and see if you opted for gap insurance.

I say you keep looking man. I'll probably get flamed for this, but it could be a cool opportunity to swap the drivetrain into something cool if you have the car paid off! A miata or an ae86 would be sweet.

Hey,

I have no lien on the car it was paid in full when purchased from a private owner. Anyhow, I'm going to check the laws and see what I can do cause I would like to have an all out track only car and possibly daily something a bit better on gas. I'll keep you guys posted and try and get some pics up of the shell I'm debating on purchasing.

I'm selling my clean titled "shell". Doesn't have an engine/tranny and I can remove more parts to fit your budget.
