Buying a new S2000, wait or buy now?
Hey,
I'm just curious to know what you guys think...
I already have a convertible, so no summer rush to run out and by a fun summer car. I thought about purchasing a used S2000 but may end up just buying new (if I can get a good price).
Being that it's the summer, I think dealers may be looking for a higher premium. But, then again sales for the S2000 are down 70% Apr to Apr sales.
Being that this is the last year, I also wonder if prices be kept at premium, regardless of season.
Just a lot of thoughts going through my mind
Would you recommend waiting until the Fall when the prices may drop a bit?
Curious to know what you think regarding a good buying time to get a great deal...
Thanks.....

I went through the same process as the OP exactly a year ago. I started out looking for a nice used AP2 with low miles in March. Both private sellers and dealers were asking a premium because summer was right around the corner. Finally, in May Honda offered a $349 lease with $18K buyout at lease end. I picked up exactly what I wanted, Chicane silver with red seats. I'll buy the car at lease end.
Personally, I'd say go get yourself an 09. Even though this is the last year of production, I don't think anyone cares about a ten year old car going out of production judging from the sales numbers. On top of that, the economy is making people and lenders very cautious with their money. People are buying the "smart" choice rather than toys. Therefore, I'd imagine Honda dealers would be more than willing to deal on a new S2000. Go get it now while you still have color choices.
