Default Buying an S2000

Hey guys, i am looking to buy an S2000, i just wondered if there is anything i should know, or look for prior to buying, and also some feedback as to how you guys like your cars. This will now be my daily driver, as i have sold my Bimmer, and i will definetley be driving it all the time.

Also if i buy a 2000 or 2001, how hard is it to get the Glass rear window on it.

Can you just buy a glass window top and put it on...i dont care about the defroster.
---I was lookin at the tops from Hardtopguy.com by the way, would those work?

There have been many, many topics on the "what to look for" issue as well as the glass top replacement. A search (via google if the site's search is down) should yield plenty of insights.

It's a pretty good bet that those of us who frequent this website enjoy the car, or we probably wouldn't spend the time to discuss it on the internet.

I have looking for S2000 for awhile now and going to buy one next week...

-definitely get and 02 and up for the glass window, the plastic window is crap and you would have to replace the whole frame not just the window.

-check for the 10 Vin stickers around the car,

-TSBs done.

-Carfax history

good luck

If you happen to live in an area that gets lots of snow, and you have a long commute to work each day, the S2000 may not be the best daily driver, unless you have a beater for the winter.

Thanks guys, does anyone know about the top replacement, i know that i will have to get a whole new top, but what i want to know is if i will have to buy a whole new frame, or if it can even be done. I want an 02 or up, but i got a guy with a 2001 that only has 6245 miles, and he only wants 19 grand for it.

I could be wrong here, but the frame isn't replaced, just the entire top itself with a glass in it. I think I read about $700.00 for the job.

Where are the 10 stickers aside from engine bay/door jam/dash?

4 under the hood: one on each fender, 1 on the front bumper, 1 underside of the hood

2 in each door sill, 1 on either side

2 in the trunk, 1 on the bumper and 1 on the trunk lid

10 total.
