I'll throw my two cents in here. I've got an '06 with under 30k miles and it's already got a tear in the soft top, and it doesn't leak at all during the rain. That being said, I was in a hurry for a date once, and my car was covered in pollen, so I opted to take my car through a touchless car wash that was just down the road. I was shocked to find that water was coming in all over the place!!! I was literally holding up towels to both windows at the same time to prevent water from spraying me right in my face!
Now I'm not saying that you've found a great car, but I can at least validate that the top WILL leak in a touchless car wash, but won't drip a drop in a heavy rain storm.

i have a small tear
but i jus used glue to seal it. D:

and for the market, just for reference i got my 05 s2k for 17,8 OTD with 25k miles.

so finding a AP1 for 10k with less than 100k miles, i would think should be easier.

but like everyone said, id avoid this seller.

take some pics let us see

How/why is selling a used cat illegal?
C'mon, dude. Did you think I just pulled that out of my tushy?

It's illegal because there is a law that prohibits it.

[QUOTE=Elistan,Apr 13 2009, 06:10 PM] Lots of people here have replaced the stock cat with a high-flow model, or a test pipe.

I know that a cat is not the "first" mod I would make. It would make me a bit hesitant. Does it have stock exhaust? Again though it is a Honda. Get it checked out by someone that knows S2K's.

For racing, fine. For street use, not fine. You don't think breaking the law is poor judgement? There are lots of people here posting in the "Street Encounters" forum. I wouldn't equate "lots of people" being an indicator of good judgement....
When determining whether I want to purchase a car, the fact that the owner did something with the cat, on its own, wouldn't be much of a big deal. Evidence of prior forced induction, NOS, crappy ICE install, crash damage, broken valve retainers, etc. - those I would care about. A high-flow cat, or a test pipe, wouldn't make me assume any of those were necesarily present. It'd be like declining to buy a car because you know the previous owner did 75mph in a 60mph zone. It's illegal, it could even have put people in danger, but it wouldn't be grounds to not purchase the car.

+1!

I purchased my car and was told that the previous two owner were members of this forum and that it had been modified. It was previously slammed (as there was a custom fender flare from the tire hitting it) and had an aftermarket steering wheel which means it probably would have had other mods as well. It also had the soft-top replaced and it was an '06 with 35k miles. Still, I inspected it myself, test drove it, took it to a mechanic for an inspection and viola, 15k miles later, car runs like the champ it is!

So in the end, it all depends on the individual situation and car but it sounds like a pretty good deal you found but for that price, expect some things that need to be fixed/replaced so have a rainy day fund ready.

Good luck on your search and hope to see you on here as an owner some day!

I was more worried about the top than a cat, but then again..., I think I WILL stay away from this seller.
Some asked me for the link or a pic....um...for the seller's sake, I won't give a link or a pic..
but I'll give clues for those who REALLY want to see the car.
It's in a cars for sale category. I've already mentioned few things before... car under 10k. And 5 hours from me. I live in MD. So go figure if you really want to know.

Putting that aside.., I really appreciate everyone's replies. You guys are great. I've decided I'll look for another s2k.
:-)

Is the top covered under warranty? I'm guessing it would be.
