Buying something through s2ki everyone help please
I am trying to buy a s/c for my car and they don't have their vin #'s on their profile should I trust them enough to buy it from them. If anyone knows about these people give me advice if i should buy it from them or not. 1Fast99Si, kings2k These are the people that offered me the S/C. Please let me know if anyone knows anything. Thanks a lot it would be a big help.
You may want to ask in the NYC forum for references about 1Fast99Si as he is a member there. I don't see any posts by kings2k.
The rules for posting a for sale thread on s2ki require that you be a registered S2000 owner with the site. This will not ensure that you won't get screwed but does add a better sense of sucurity that the item you are buying isn't hot (still not always true).
Look at their time of being on the board and ask around in their local region forums.

Well, first off, I wouldnt buy it. It is against the board rules to sell parts without a VIN #. This helps keeps the fraudulant people from scaming other Members. However it does not gurantee a safe sale. There is a thread in the For Sale forum of Buyers/sellers Feedback. However if someone dont post a good or bad deal, it's kinda hard to tell for sure.
On a side note, I am not sure, but I think 99CivicSi has an S....it would be best if they put their VIN's in their profile first.

I wouldn't place to much stock in VIN numbers anyway. They could have been obtained from eBay auctions or anywhere. It's not a foolproof system. Better off talking to other members who have had dealings with the people you're enquiring about. You could of course deal instead with well known sponsors or at the very least with people who are geographically close to you so you can go eyeball the goods first.

So true Muz. I would do what Marcus suggested and check out their regional for them. If they get all butthurt for asking, then it's like they have something to hide. Otherwise, you may find that they have a great reputation and you have a new SC
