Default C-west front and AEM V2 CAI

Anyone run this setup

Just curious as everyone is worried about hydrolock and the front of this bumper has the open vents...

I cant win.

I figured if I put this in S2000 talk it would get moved to "under the hood"
as it deals with the CAI.....So I put in "under the hood"

From what I understand, the only way you have to worry about hydrolock is if you are submerged in water up to the intake filter. If you arent sitting in a puddle that high with the car running, then you should be fine.

I bought my S2K with that setup. I've drove it through heavy rain and puddles without problems. It has the bypass valve.

bypass valve prevents hydrolocking but maybe he's asking since the cwest bumper has an open vent can your engine hydrolock without a bypassvalve from normal rain driving

some 04 owner with a stock bumper had trouble with the v2. not sure if he had the bypass but his lower pipe was filled with water after a night of hard raining.

Driving in the pouring rain "with or without" the bypass on this type of intake is NOT the problem. The engine can handle a small steady stream of incoming water mist as long as it's running (remember water injection?). It's leaving the car PARKED in the pouring rain and letting the water drip down onto the filter so that it collects in the first part of the pipe that will damage your engine when you fire it up. People who do this must make some kind of "umbrella" to shield the filter from above.
Also, it's driving slowly into deep water that submerges the filter that will kill it too.
